Director's Travel Assistance

Director's Travel Assistance

Purpose:

In order to promote the growth and sharing of knowledge amongst WDTF theatre societies by providing financial assistance to cover directors (theatrical, musical and technical) who are working for a society outside their usual geographical area.

Travel Assistance:

A financial grant of up to $200 can be made towards (i.e. not entirely to cover) a director’s travel expenses where they are required to travel regularly to rehearsals for a production undertaken by a WDTF member society outside that director’s usual geographical area of operation OR if the distance between the director’s usual place of residence and the relevant society is greater than 25km one-way.

Application Considerations:

The WDTF Executive will determine whether or not to award a grant on a case-by-case basis.  In making its decision the Executive will be guided by the Purpose (above) and the following considerations:

1.         Geographical area of the production relative to where the director lives/usually operates and/or the actual distance between the director’s residence and the relevant society.  The geographical areas are broadly defined as:  (a) central Wellington; (b) the Hutt Valley and Eastbourne; (c) Porirua and beyond up SH1; (d) the Wairarapa.

2.         Is this the first time/first time for several years the director has been approached to direct for the applying society? [NOTE:  if the director regularly participates in that society’s activities then, geographical area notwithstanding, an application is less likely to succeed]

3.         The likely travel costs to be incurred.

In the event of a grant being made the fact of the grant must be acknowledged in the programme.
